Restaurants Join in Promotion of Downtown Area The Jonesboro Sun - September 13, 2002
Things are really cooking in downtown Jonesboro, with the area's seven restaurants experiencing increased business and an eighth set to open its doors soon, said Nancy Chrisman, director of the Jonesboro Central Planning Association.
A summer concert series on Main Street has been attracting crowds of up to 200 people each weekend and many of those music lovers patronize the downtown eateries, Chrisman said.
The Main Street concerts are sponsored by businessman Kent Arnold, who has recently moved his operation to a renovated building downtown, she said. In addition, the Blue Monday concerts held at Potlicker's Uptown Deli and sponsored by KASU, The Jonesboro Sun, and others are attracting overflow crowds, Chrisman noted.
Something new for downtown is the publishing of a brochure titled "What's Good to Eat Where," which lists the seven existing restaurants and their specialties.
